CMAA (in Chicago, Libertyville and Naperville, Illinois) offers Adult Basics Wushu (Kung Fu) and Adult Advanced classes. Classes are available every weekday evening. Adult Basics emphasizes basic striking, kicking, grappling and throwing techniques as well fundamental weapons training. Adult Advanced emphasizes traditional and contemporary bare-hands forms (including standardized competition forms, and advanced weapons techniques. Students can also choose to participate in San Shou (Chinese freehand boxing) training which completes this comprehensive curriculum.
Forms: Training includes learning forms in Northern, Southern, and Northwestern styles (including Shaolin Kung Fu). All contemporary forms are also taught.
Weapons: Advanced Wushu (Kung Fu) students are encouraged to train with weapons to improve their ability. Weapon training include staff, spear, straight sword, broad sword, double broad sword, chain whip, double chain whip, double hook, sword and chain whip, 3-section staff, halberd, monk spade, and rope-dart.
Self Defense: Training consists of a series of simple to complicated techniques designed for different situations. These include controlling your opponent by using joint locks, Chin Na, grabbing techniques, and San Shou.
